Good clean fun with lots of dancing, music, coffee drinking, conversation, and friendship.  Oh, and just a few sprinkles of rain to uphold the tradition.

All the work is to be finished by October. This is HUGE! 90% of Norrsundet is fantastic but the 10% that’s not has always been the first thing new people see when they roll into town. When I first came here and took in my first views of the town, I immediately wanted to turn around and leave. How could anyone want to live in such an ugly and run down place? Did no one here have any pride in where they lived?

Fortunately I was tied up and held here against my will long enough for me to get out and see the rest of the things this area has to offer and realized that it was really only the town center that was bad. They’ve since untied me and I’m allowed to roam free, now that they know I won’t try and escape.

So, ….. Brand new town center by the end of summer. Pulp factory shutting down at the end of the year. A new business center going in on the old factory grounds. House prices, which have been severely depressed due to the pulp mill, are now starting to rise and will soon be at or above replacement cost which will allow new development to be financially feasible again. House prices are still less than half what you’d find elsewhere so if you’re looking for one, now’s the time.

The Transformation Begins.

When it’s all done at the end of summer I’ll post some new pictures of the work done.

My old camera had breathed it’s last breath a while back and I had just about run out of old photos to post on this site. My new camera arrived the other day so I’m back in business again.

I realized I didn’t have any pictures of quite a few places in and around town so I’ll have to remedy that. I’ll start today with the school. There is a daycare up on the hill which covers the toddlers up thru age 5 or 6. They then move down to the school which currently goes up to Class 6.

It’s a very clean and modern facility with it’s own library and sports hall.

Solberga is a retirement home located 10 minutes away in the next town over of Bergby.

Fun for young and old if you’re not up to a road trip to Kungsberget.

Winter 2007 was relatively snow free and made for excellent skating and fishing.
